Tuning Fork Splus 256 Hz "Master Fork 2"
1 Hertz = 1 vibration per second. Seven octaves higher, this is the note C with 128 Hz and another octave higher 256 Hz. These frequencies were not only recommended by Rudolf Steiner or Guiseppe Verdi as a concert pitch. Various users refer to tuning forks with these tones as „Master Forks".
With the endeavour to create music in harmony with nature, the founder of anthroposophy, Rudolf Steiner, leaned on Paul Hindemith, who in the "Unterweisung im Tonsatz" (Schott Verlag, Mainz 1939) points out the possibility of setting the keynote "C" in harmony with our calendar. In the book "Von Intervallen, Tonleitern, Tönen und dem Kammerton C = 128 Hz" (Philosophisch-Anthroposophischer Verlag, Dornach 1985), the author Maria Renold describes in detail the differences in effect between chromatic music tuned to 440 Hz and diatonic music based on a C of 128 Hz (which is a power of two of the fundamental unit "hertz" (1 hertz = 1 vibration per second). At first glance, this seems to be a reasonable solution, but it also originates from a measure that was determined by man and only indirectly derived from nature. In the sense of ancient harmony theory, the choice of the second as the starting point of a tuning system is not entirely arbitrary in that it can be derived in relation to the vibration of the earth's rotation through octaves, fifths and major sevenths (1/60 of 1/60 of 1/24).
