In 1989 the Star Sounds Orchestra has been established by Steve Schroyder (pioneer in electronic music since 1970. e.g. as ex-member of Tangerine Dream), and Jens Zygar (equipped with a complete set of Planet Gongs). The primary goal of the SSO was to create music which is based on the planetary tunings of the Cosmic Octave. On September 29, 1989 they played their first concert in Solothurn, Switzerland. In 1991 their first album "Planets" has been released. By this musical sonification of the planets of the solar system the Star Sounds Orchestra has marked a first milestone in the history of real cosmically tuned music in the western culture.
