For over 40 years, I have been fascinated by the network of vibrations in which everything that exists, from stars to atoms, is embedded. I would like to briefly explain how I came to do this and what has become of it.
For over 40 years, I have been fascinated by the network of vibrations in which everything that exists, from stars to atoms, is embedded. I would like to briefly explain how I came to do this and what has become of it.
In the late 1970s, I shared a flat in Munich with a creative group of musicians, painters and thinkers. We were enthusiastic about the arts and fascinated by how everything in the universe is interconnected. A key moment occurred in 1978 when Hans Cousto, a visionary mathematician and member of our community, had the brilliant idea of translating astronomical rhythms into audible sounds. By doubling the frequency many times over, he determined the tones that correspond to the cycles of the earth, the moon and the planets.
To make these calculated frequencies audible, we had special tuning forks made. Interest in Cousto's work grew rapidly. He was invited to give lectures and we began to reproduce handwritten booklets until book publishers finally took notice. Hans Cousto's book, published by Synthesis Verlag, is entitled "The Cosmic Octave".
In 1990, twelve years after Cousto's groundbreaking discovery, I decided to found a company called Planetware due to the growing public interest. My goal was to further disseminate the theory of the Cosmic Octave and offer practical instruments for its application. For me, it was clear that theory and practice are closely intertwined, much like software and hardware —hence the name Planetware.
During this time, I worked with Johannes Paul, another member of our former Munich community. Together, we developed graphical scores where colors represent higher octaves of tones. The result was ColorMusic, a notation system that elegantly combines color and sound.
What began as personal curiosity has evolved into a global phenomenon thanks to Cousto's visionary idea. Today, the Cosmic Octave is applied in various fields: from music and art to therapeutic and hedonistic applications, and even scientific research.
I hope this insight into my world has inspired you to learn more about the fascinating world of the Cosmic Octave. You can find extensive information on the topic at www.planetware.de, and here at shop.planetware.de, you can purchase instruments to implement this fascinating theory in practice. I look forward to accompanying you on this exciting journey and helping you discover and understand the harmonious vibrations of the universe.
Welcome to Planetware,
